A trailer warranty can save you real money, but only if you know what it covers. Terms vary by manufacturer, so always get the warranty in writing before you sign. Here is what Texas and Louisiana buyers should look for.
What Warranties Commonly Cover
- Frame and structure: many manufacturers back welds and frame against defects for a set period.
- Axles and suspension: often covered by the axle maker. See our torsion vs leaf spring axle guide.
- Tires: usually covered by the tire maker, not the trailer builder.
- Electrical, brakes and hydraulics: components may carry separate, shorter terms.
What Usually Is Not Covered
- Normal wear such as tires, brake pads and bearings
- Damage from overloading past GVWR
- Accidents, abuse and lack of maintenance
- Cosmetic issues like scratches or surface rust
Staying inside your rating matters. Review GVWR and GAWR explained and keep up with wheel bearing maintenance so a claim is not denied.
Questions to Ask Before You Buy
